How We Produce
A little bit of history…
Valenki shoe production started towards the end of 16th century in Russia to answer the need to protect the feet from the -40C Siberian cold. During that time, a Velenki pair of wool shoes was quite expensive due to the tedious and painstaking process of creating these handmade shoes and only the rich could afford a pair. Valenki shoe production often started right after the autumn harvest until throughout Easter when cattle is out grazing the pasture. Worn indoors and outdoors, and had been part of the traditional Russian dress- noblemen, children, soldiers and even peasants have all worn a Valenki shoes.

On-going perfection process
Through intensive research and study Baabuk has perfected the art of making a one piece felted wool shoe. In reality, anyone can just make a flat wool layers then stich it together to form a pair of shoes but we chose a different path. Each pair of Baabuk is a complete masterpiece utilizing all natural and recycled materials into each handcrafted shoe piece. We use gentle soap, water and pure wool in producing the body of each shoe. For the sole we only have 3 natural options from natural rubber, leather or recycled old tires.

Baabuk would never compromise quality so we proceeded with our own unique production and designed our own machines to keep up with the high standard of quality that we are committed to deliver to those who want the best warmest shoes ever produced. Keeping everyone’s feet warm, cozy and comfortable with styles that appeal to modern fashonistas.
